It's official... Pasco County's first Whataburger location since 2009 is opening on Wednesday, April 16th at 11am in Lutz! If you've been driving past the construction on Sierra Center Boulevard and wondering when it's finally going to open, now you have your answer. The wait is almost over.
Where Is It?
The new Whataburger is located at 25340 Sierra Center Blvd, Lutz, FL 33559, right near the intersection of SR 56 and Wesley Chapel Blvd, just across from the Tampa Premium Outlets. If you know the area, this is the spot where Aussie Grill used to be.
A Little Whataburger History
For anyone who hasn't experienced Whataburger before, you're in for something special. The chain was founded in Corpus Christi, Texas back in 1950 and has grown into one of the most beloved fast-food brands in the South. They're known for big, made-to-order burgers using fresh (never frozen) beef, and they've built a seriously passionate fanbase over the years. You know a place is good when people travel with their spicy ketchup in their suitcase.
This Lutz location is part of Whataburger's big return to the Tampa Bay area. They've been quietly planning a major expansion across the region, with eight restaurants planned by the end of 2027. The Largo location already opened earlier this year, and the Lutz spot will be the first to open in Pasco County since 2009, when they last had a location in Zephyrhills.
What's on the Menu
The full Whataburger menu will be available at the Lutz location. If you're not sure what to try first, here are some of the highlights worth knowing about.
What to Expect on Opening Day
Let's be real: the line is probably going to be long. When the Largo Whataburger opened earlier this year, it drew huge crowds, and we're expecting the same kind of energy for this one. This is the first location in Pasco County, so people have been counting down for a while now.
The restaurant will have drive-thru, dine-in, and mobile ordering available, so you've got options. If you want to skip the line, downloading the Whataburger app ahead of time is a solid move.
More Whataburger Locations Coming to Tampa Bay
The Lutz location is just the beginning for Pasco County and the broader Tampa Bay area. Whataburger has announced plans for eight total restaurants across the region by the end of 2027, so if this one isn't close to you, there's a good chance one will be soon.
We'll keep you updated as more locations are announced. For now, mark your calendar for April 16th and get ready for some Texas-sized flavor right here in Pasco.
