SUMMARY:Community Pond Restoration Event Phase 2: Stormwater Smart Solutions
DESCRIPTION:Volunteers are needed to help restore a natural bioretention pond by removing invasive plants and planting natives during a community event.\n\n\nIn this Phase 2 of the community restoration project at the Land O’ Lakes Recreation Complex\, hosted by UF/IFAS Extension Florida Sea Grant in partnership with Pasco County Public Works\, volunteers will help remove invasive plant species from the pond and plant native Florida vegetation along its edges.We welcome adult and youth volunteers! (Youth must be accompanied by a parent or guardian). The project will focus on the restoration of a stormwater retention pond to restore habitat and actively reduce nutrient loading. \n*Note volunteers will likely get wet and dirty! Wear clothes you are okay with getting messy. Please plan on arriving at 8 am to get started with the group\, we may finish early! \nVolunteers will be provided with snacks (light lunch) and drinks for their help in the project! \nWe recommend bringing the following: Sunscreen\, refillable water bottle\, closed-toed shoes (that can get wet); waders (if you have them)\, extra shovel (we will have some) \nYou can also sign up for phase 1 of the project here: \nMay 3rd- Community Pond Restoration Event Phase 1 \nThis project is a part of the UF/IFAS Extension Florida Sea Grant Pasco County grant provided by the Tampa Bay Estuary Program Bay Mini Grant and the Tarpon Tag.
